The trappings of the holiday season are gone. So is the eggnog, the chocolate Santas, the prime rib and ham buffets that followed holiday trays of high-calorie hors d’oeuvres.
What’s left, however, is the stuff of rolls and bulges that prompts millions of people to make this their top New Year’s resolution: dropping a few pounds. In order, the American Psychological Association says the top three New Year’s resolutions are to lose weight, quit smoking and exercise regularly.
Meanwhile, Time magazine also lists exercising and losing weight as one of the 10 commonly broken resolutions. The reason? People get busy — and lazy.
